Studio for Cosmopolitical Models is glad to announce that, in collaboration with Marco Falcone, Emanuele Migliorisi, and Ricardo Ribeiro Machado Pedroso De Lima, it has won the design competition for the Rehearsal Hall of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma Capitale, as part of the urban redevelopment program known as Centro Servizi Prenestino.
Jury's Comment:
"The project, in addition to an architectural language characterized by both experimentation and a well-balanced sense of monumentality, introduces a spatial concept that integrates a flexible, workshop-like structure on the southwest façade. This element interacts with the public space to the north, incorporating features that evoke the world of experimental theater and generating a highly positive and realistic urban interior-exterior interaction.
The project's phasing is particularly convincing, ensuring that the building remains well-defined and complete even within the sole implementation of Sector S1. Some revisions are suggested—considered entirely feasible—regarding the layout of the service areas supporting the Hall, including maneuvering spaces."

Studio for Cosmopolitical Models is an architecture practice based in Lisbon and Rome. Founded in 2020 by Raffaele Sarubbo, it develops research and design practices that investigate architecture as a field of negotiation between heterogeneous forces — economic, social, environmental, and related to the recognition of rights. Architecture is conceived as a form of mediation and evolving composition that takes on a cosmopolitical character.
Considering reality as a continuously shifting mise-en-scène, the studio opens a line of inquiry into the models that shape widespread behaviours and forms of collective organization, with the aim of critically analysing them, challenging them, and, when necessary, imagining alternative scenarios.
The studio embraces a vision of architecture as a transmaterial discipline, with transscalar and transspecies implications, capable of actively contributing to the shaping of contemporary society and its future trajectories. Architectural works are conceived as assemblages of socio-technological and semiotic-material devices that participate in constructing the conditions of collective life.
